The Executive Director, Project Leadership is accountable for, defining and implementing account
strategy in collaboration with Commercial, building and leading a successful cross-functional team,
owning key client operational relationships, ensuring a culture of delivery and accountability within the
teams including project portfolio management, resource demand management and for ensuring effective
delivery and execution of projects within the portfolio. Measurements of success include Account
Revenue, New Business, Delivery Performance (Time/Quality) Financial Forecast Accuracy, Project
Margin and Customer Satisfaction. As the senior operational leader within the Portfolio, you will use your
skills and experience to motivate your teams, remove or mitigate risks and roadblocks and identify and
leverage opportunities to ensure delivery of these objectives.
The Executive Director, Project Leadership, will contribute actively in proposal development, particularly
large strategic opportunities, using their knowledge and experience to develop innovative plans and
program architecture. Working independently, they will own some of the most important relationships with
the client and will be key to winning new business. They will have line management responsibility for
some members of their team however it is not intended that line management be more than 25% of their
time.
Within CRS, the Executive Director, Project Leadership will have operational ownership for Parexel
therefore, depending on the needs of the account, they should play a part in optimizing the customer
experience for clients working with Parexel. This is likely to mean they play a role in supporting rapid
resolution of issues outside of CRS.

Key Accountabilities

Project Management and Execution
Management of assigned Portfolio to achieve financial, delivery and customer satisfaction targets
Provide winning execution plan for account portfolio
Accurate forecasting of revenue and resource
Delivering projects in line with sold margin; ensuring cost delivery estimates are provided as input into pricing, margin, and contracting decisions during sales process; and that revenue recognition and margin goals are achievable and achieved by PDs/PLs
Manage escalations through effective problem-solving while promoting strong cross-functional Collaboration and partnership with the Client team; Partnership with Account Leadership to ensure effective client engagement and management as the single point of accountability of projects

Identify potential project risks and implement contingency plans, mitigate actual risks with team members and keep client informed about risks and contingencies
Create quality standards for the team that drive individual and team commitment to quality. Monitor quality of deliverables and implement corrective and preventative action as needed.
Portfolio ManagementOversee project teams working within the Portfolio
Set clear objectives, regularly seek feedback and assess individual performance, provide routine feedback in regular one on one meetings, have courageous conversations, conduct meaningful and timely performance reviews, hold employees accountable.
Inspire team to meet and exceed targets; create an environment of trust and teamwork, create opportunities for open dialogue, and demonstrate that you have listened to employee’s suggestions and input. Define short and long term goals and vision for the Portfolio.
Change ManagementEstablish best practices across portfolio and accounts for managing change in both internal and client driven scenarios. Champions organization wide change initiatives such as PRISM, CTOR, SSU, Client Technology, models, etc. Drive operational improvements based on results.

Qualifications

Skills:
• Strong business and financial acumen
• Executive presence and ability to effectively build relationships with senior level clients and represent Parexel
• Strong problem-solving, prioritization and decision making – act as tie breaker, making hard trade-off decisions across needs of different projects and Project Leads for assigned client (s)
• Demonstrated ability to ensure delivery to client commitments, optimize client experience and Parexel margin across Programs/projects
• Ability to demonstrate value creation and delivery in global matrix environment where there is high accountability without ownership of resources
• Ability to influence up, down and across organization; strong interpersonal, collaboration and partnership skills
• Ability to influence decision making by executive business leaders
• Experience managing in Global Markets
• Willing to travel up to 50%

Knowledge and Experience:
• Proven substantial superior project management experience in healthcare, clinical research, or CRO
• Proven track record of developing client relationships at program and account levels
• Proven substantial leadership and line management experience across countries

Education:
• Bachelor of Science, in scientific discipline preferred, advanced degree preferred.
