Clinical Team Lead

The Clinical Team Lead is responsible for ensuring adequate staffing and staff training based on the Unit’s needs and is responsible for the oversight and training of intermittent/temp status clinical staff.

•Oversees intermittent/temp status clinical staff, including scheduling and administrative tasks such as timesheet and time-off approvals.
•Manage daily staffing assignments for Clinical Operations/Laboratory tasks at the Unit.
•Creatively minimize any unnecessary overtime through the scheduling process.
•Assist study teams in performing study procedures, quality control, and coordinating organization of study materials for monitoring visits, when necessary.
•Provide administrative assistance in maintenance of study flow sheets and staffing schedule.
•Work with study coordinators in identifying staff needs of assigned protocols.
•Assigns tasks and clinical procedures to appropriately trained Clinical Operations staff.
•Understand and support Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), Good Clinical Practices (GCPs) and all clinical work processes to ensure the efficient and compliant operation of the EPCU.
•Develop and implement structured introduction programs for all new personnel.
•Helps schedule, organize, and conduct training exercises and competency tests for new hires and mock runs of study specific procedures.
•Provide feedback to unit management on training deliverables and training effectiveness.
•Identify and maintain a panel of mentors to deliver mentoring and training as appropriate.
•Meet with mentors and/or managers on a regular basis to provide feedback on staff’s clinical skills and performance, and work proactively on programs to improve any deficiencies.
•Attend study specific training and staff training on protocols, GCP guidelines, treatment, possible side effects and participant safety.
•Drives a High Performance Culture of continuous improvement, leadership, accountability, client focus, efficiency and profitability within Clinical Operations.
•Demands First-Time-Quality by establishing clear expectations for staff performance, clear delineation of accountability for tasks and processes and consistent monitoring of work product.
•Participates in the fiscal objectives of the unit and recognizes cost reduction opportunities.
•Establish working relationships with client representatives, promoting confidence and reliability around trial execution to delight the customer.

•Ability to lead and motivate functional groups to be client focused, achieve Unit/project-specific objectives, and strive for continuous improvement
•Well-developed communication, supervisory and other soft skills.
•Highly organized with the ability to manage multiple tasks of competing priorities.
•Self-motivated with a willingness to accept responsibility and challenges.
•Computer skills; ability to use MS Word, Excel, Power Point and Outlook
•Experience in dealing with confidential materials.
•Ability to work flexible schedule shift; schedule will vary according to business needs
•At least 1+ year’s prior experience in a clinical setting performing clinical and scheduling tasks.
•Computer skills and familiarity with research process is highly desirable.
•Life sciences degree or equal work experience
